Create Safe Spaces. Transform Lives

Unprocessed trauma and chronic stress impact people across all walks of life. Whether you’re a yoga teacher, mental health professional, healthcare worker, or simply someone who values a compassionate, body-centered approach to well-being, this workshop equips you with essential skills to offer supportive, healing environments to yourself or others.

This one-day workshop provides 8 contact hours of Yoga Alliance-accredited training for Yoga Teachers and a rich toolkit for anyone committed to creating spaces that foster safety, connection, and healing.

Why Trauma-Informed Practices Matter

Trauma affects the body, mind, and spirit, often in ways that can emerge unexpectedly, even in settings intended to support well-being. Many people come to yoga, therapy, or healing environments seeking refuge and reconnection but may carry invisible wounds. This is relevant for you as a practitioner or an attendee to yoga or therapy.

Traditional approaches don’t always address these needs, and a lack of trauma-sensitive awareness can unintentionally re-traumatise or alienate those who need support the most.

Trauma-informed practices offer a path to truly inclusive and compassionate spaces, going beyond techniques to embrace an approach that is safe, welcoming, and empowering for each individual. By joining this workshop, you’ll learn to recognise trauma responses, support nervous system regulation, and foster an atmosphere where everyone can feel seen, safe, and respected.

What You’ll Learn in This Workshop

This immersive, interactive workshop covers key elements of trauma-informed practice, equipping you with insights, tools, and skills to support those you serve:

1. Understanding Trauma and the Nervous System:
Explore how trauma impacts the body and mind, diving into the basics of Polyvagal Theory and the nervous system's responses to stress—fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. Gain practical tools for recognizing signs of trauma and guiding individuals toward safety and regulation.

2. Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice:
Learn the foundational pillars of trauma-informed practice: safety, choice, empowerment, and trust. Discover how to adjust language, approach, and boundaries to create an inclusive and supportive environment that respects each person's unique needs and experiences.

3. Somatic Practices for Nervous System Healing:
Experience grounding, centering, and self-regulation exercises that can be integrated into yoga, therapeutic sessions, or daily interactions. These somatic practices offer tools to help those affected by trauma find stability, cultivate resilience, and restore a sense of control.

4. Creating a Supportive, Healing Space:
Learn practical strategies to set up a "safe container" in group or one-on-one settings by establishing clear intentions, setting boundaries, and fostering an atmosphere of collaboration. Through experiential exercises, you’ll gain confidence in holding space, whether in a yoga class, counseling session, or community workshop.

The Impact of Choosing Trauma-Informed Training

Without trauma-informed skills, even well-meaning professionals may unintentionally re-traumatise or distance those they aim to support. Trauma-sensitive approaches offer people the assurance that they are truly safe, valued, and respected, unlocking the potential for healing and transformation in any supportive environment.

Attending this workshop not only enriches your practice but also builds trust with those you serve. By gaining these essential tools, you will be able to help clients, students, and colleagues alike feel grounded, resilient, and connected, fostering healing and growth in the lives you touch.

Plus, receive our exclusive Trauma-Informed eBook - Grounded Presence: A Guide to Trauma-Informed Working and Somatic Practices—an invaluable resource to guide you long after the workshop ends.

Imagine the story of the starfish:

A young girl walks along the shore, gently tossing stranded starfish back into the ocean. A man approaches and tells her, “There are too many; you can’t possibly make a difference.” She smiles, picks up another starfish, and returns it to the sea, saying, “It made a difference to that one.”

Trauma-informed work is like helping each starfish. You may not be able to change everything for everyone, but for each person you reach, the impact is transformative.
