Featured Travel and Psychological Commentary

My psychological insights have been featured across national and international media, including commentary on travel, meaningful experiences, wellbeing and the ways our environments influence how we feel.

Therapeutic Retreats

Sometimes we need more than time away—we need space to hear ourselves again

Retreats create distance from familiar roles, expectations and routines. In the right environment, that distance can help us notice what has become difficult to hear in everyday life.

My therapeutic retreats bring together elements such as:

Psychological reflection and self-understanding

Nervous-system regulation

Mindful movement, yoga and breathwork

Nature, place and sensory awareness

Rest, creativity and personal meaning

Connection with others without pressure to perform

Space to consider what you want to carry home with you

The setting is not simply a backdrop. Place becomes part of the experience.

A retreat can offer a meaningful pause: an opportunity to step out of automatic patterns, reconnect with the body and return with greater clarity about the next part of your life.  Click the button below to explore my next retreat from Betrayal to Breakthrough.

Holiday advice and travel booking

From psychological insight to a real journey

Understanding what you need from a holiday is only useful if you can translate that insight into somewhere you can actually go.

As an independent travel advisor, I have created Aligned Adventures working through InteleTravel, where I can help you explore and book holidays, hotels, cruises, experiences and other travel arrangements.

This allows me to bring together two different perspectives:

What appears to be a good holiday in practical terms

Whether its pace, environment and experience are likely to suit you psychologically

You can use my Holiday Archetype Discovery as your starting point and then explore suitable travel options through my independent travel page.

Rewrite the Road
My Travel Blog

Reflections on travel, psychology and the journeys that change us

Rewrite the Road is my Substack exploring the psychological meaning of travel—the places we choose, the identities we carry, the experiences that stay with us and the ways a journey can change how we see our lives.

Alongside longer reflections, I share honest observations, practical travel ideas and thoughts about why particular places affect us so deeply. It's a work in progress so please bear with my ADHD delays there!

Could travel become part of your working life?

For some people, becoming an independent travel advisor is simply a way to learn more about travel and arrange trips for themselves, friends and family with some potential savings and benefits. For others, it can develop into a flexible home-based source of additional or main income.

The opportunity may include:

Researching and arranging travel

Helping friends, family or other clients book their holidays

Earning commission on eligible completed bookings

Being eligible for agent concessions where available

Developing knowledge of destinations and travel providers

Building a flexible travel business around existing commitments

Introducing and supporting other people who may also want to work in travel

It is not necessary to begin as a travel expert. Training, systems and ongoing support are provided.

This will not be right for everyone, and—as with any self-employed opportunity—income is not guaranteed. It may, however, be worth exploring if you already enjoy planning travel, sharing recommendations or helping other people find the right holiday or even just events and holiday extras.

The information is available for anyone who is curious and would like to understand how the opportunity works.

Why the nervous system matters when we travel

I have included my UK Health Radio interview about the nervous system because it explains the psychological foundation of my approach to travel. A holiday may look perfect on paper, but if it involves the wrong pace, too much stimulation, uncertainty or pressure, the body can remain in a state of alert rather than genuinely resting. Understanding how the nervous system responds to safety, change and sensory demands helps us recognise why one person feels restored by adventure while another needs stillness, familiarity or space. This conversation offers a deeper insight into why our breaks need to suit who we are—not simply where we think we should go.
